Welcome to Mole Class

Welcome to Mole Class.

It's hard to believe that Mole Class have nearly come to an end of Year 1.  We have been learning about so many things, and we'd like to tell you about a few.

In January the children enjoyed setting up a camera trap in the classroom overnight to catch some naughty toys from the Toy Museum that had escaped.  After this we started a topic on the Gruffalo and the highlight for the children was visiting Chessington World of Adventures and going on the new Gruffalo Adventure ride.  Everyone had a fantastic day out, and it inspired some really good writing to go on display in the classroom.  We have been learning how to write persuasive text and this was particularly helpful in the Summer term as we needed help from the parents to grow our own vegetables as we thought Sainsbury's could run out!.  We had lots of donations of seeds and potato tubers which we are growing in pots.  Obviously our persuasive writing had done the trick.

This term our topic is 'Alice in Wonderland' and we have already done some challenging maths, making half, quarter and three quarter turns pretending we are Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole!  Although it is late in the year, we are looking forward to Sport's day and Camo Day this term which is always great fun.  We have had a great time in Mole Class and look forward to many more adventures in Year 2!
