Govenors & Duties

Tweseldown Infants Governing Body has a firm commitment to the school; we pride ourselves on the school's friendly and loving ethos. Pupil happiness, safety and quality of provision are always at the centre of our decision making.

We have a good, strong relationship with the Senior Leadership and all the staff as well as the local community. We support and guide the school in all the major decisions whilst being a critical friend. Governors are committed to being visible within the school and they attend both formal and informal occasions. We will shortly be looking into new ways in which we can meet parents and gain their insight into the school.

Our Governing Body ensures a responsible booking policy is in place for rental of any of our school buildings. They also ensure that all of our policies promote democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of others.

There is a broad spectrum of experience within the governing body from recent additions to those that have been with the school for many years. The Governing Body is currently constituted for fifteen members. This is made up of three parent governors, three community governors, one LA (Local Authority) governor and one staff governor, our Headteacher and up to 9 Co-Opted Governors from the local community.

We currently have a full complement of governors which is an excellent position to be in. Our experience is wide spread, including accountancy, project management, education including Early Years and KS2, ex-magistrate, the Armed Forces. This gives us a wealth of knowledge and we always ensure that we research anything that is not a strength fully. We come from all walks of life, some of us work full time, some are part time workers and some are retired, we.

We subscribe to the Hampshire Governor Services Clerking, this provides us with a Clerk that ensures that we are always up to date with any changes and that our meetings are well documented and purposeful. If you require any copies of governing body minutes please ask at the school administration and our Clerk will prepare them for you.
